Soda Taxes Are Ineffective, Outdated

The recent wave of new proposed taxes on sugar-sweetened beverages fails short of achieving their public health goals. The Oregonian and NPR have reported on studies that highlight the failure of sugar sin taxes to significantly impact American nutritional habits. Lack of scientific evidence and public distaste for new taxes has led to the defeat of sugar sin taxes in California, Illinois, Philadelphia and Rhode Island.
